Great question!! I keep daring the people who think it's so bad here to move to Venezuela and talk smack about Chavez, but gee...no one will take me up on it. Could it be that even *they* know they're full of it?

A dictator claims he is the "decider" and that it doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, he'll do it his way. Despite the fact that he was "elected" (and that's truly debateable) to the office of President, his actions are those of a dictator. Just this morning, George W. Bush told Congress that they couldn't do their jobs and couldn't have people in his employ, testify with a court reporter present or even publicly. A dictator thumbs his nose at the separation of powers and the checks and balances guaranteed in our Constitution. That makes George W. Bush a dictator. However, Congress can strip him of his power and the Senate can impeach him.

Dictator a person having absolute authority and governmental powers.
The Military Commissions Act allows the President to declare anyone an unlawful enemy combatant. It doesn't matter who they are or where they are from. He can deny them a lawyer, allow coerced testimony, allows him to define treason, suspend the Habeaus Corpus, deny the right of the accused to see charges against them, allow procedures that are alien to the Bill of Rights into the court system. Signs signing statements that allow him to redifine the Constitution. For example, allow him to open your mail under astregent circumstances that he can define. The Patriot Act allows the FBI to go through your phone records, finicial records, library records, and other records without a warrant or probable cause. Can conduct sneak and peak searches on you or your property, and places such as the library can't even tell you that you are under investigation. Locked up people such as the Hamoui family and held them without charges. The John Warner Defense Act allows the President to take control of the National Guard without the consent of the governor. Making it that much more easier to declare martial law. Now, I don't know about you, but looking at history and what other dictators have done in the past this looks awfully dictatorish to me. Yes, Congress did give the President this power and authority. But keep in mind other dictators, such as Hitler, rose to power legally. They started out just like this.

He is not a dictator as our Republic - our Constitution - does not allow for that to occur.

No, he is a decider! But he feels like a dictator because almost 70% of his country don't approve of him.

He isn't a dictator...but he shows the qualities of a dictator.
He doesn't care what other people think, even if some of his policies stink.
