Why do Conservatives claim the government is trying to take their guns?

I own 2 of them, and no one is trying to take them from me.

Felons, criminals, and wife beaters are the only people that NEED to have their guns TAKEN from them.

Hey, I agree with you - only those listed on your question should have their guns taken away.

But I live in a state where hunting, fishing, and trapping are a major part of everyday life for a lot of people, and trust me - LOTS of people are trying to do away with ALL of the above.

Just look at our Iditarod Dog Sled Race, or the Yukon Quest - we have animal rights freaks (who *do* tend to be liberals, from my experince) trying to get us to BAN the races. Why? Because they don't know jack **** about it and they work off of emotions, not facts.

If you knew what some of these rabid freaks have done to innocent, law-abiding citizens up here, you'd know why we worry about it.

AND, liberal dogma *is* to disarm the population. It sure as hell isn't a bunch of Conservatives trying to change the meaning of the right to bear arms!

Every last one of them!

The founding fathers of this country committed treason when they signed the Declaration of Independence.

If you piss the wrong person off, the cops get called, you have a gun, the charge doesn't have to even be filed against you, you don't even have to be arrested, but your guns can be scooped up and thrown in their trunk, scratched and all.

Someone with a bad attitude can mess you up. Thats not justice, but it happens in NY alot!

Just check prior government administrations--------historically the Democratic party has led the way in legislation to erode the fabric of or 2nd amendment rights.----I remember seeing news clips of Hillary Clinton rubbing bellies with Sara Brady.
And remember how bill Clinton FORCED legislation down our throats------------there was some proposed legislation that the party knew did not have enough support to get passed------------------so what Bill Clinton did was hide in inside of another bill and slip it through congress------this bill made certain firearms that were sold into a normal manner to instead become class III firearms-----prohibiting all but the wealthy to own them------made laws that high capacity magazines could no longer be imported or manufactured------and it seems like there may have been more in that "PILL"-------I was too young to know at 8 years of age but my Uncle still remembers because these laws affected him to a great extent---he always bought sold and trades firearms-he said when a dog wouldn't take a pill they used to hide it in a piece of bread and thats what Clinton did to us.----I don't like that.-----I will not vote for the socialists. If the Peoples Republic of China supports prohibiting firearms something tells me that could not be a good thing for America.

They (the liberals) have been trying to get gun ban bills passed ever since the Brady bill. They never seem to get
passed. I know there is at least one or two right now they are trying to pass.
Actually like they say if they do get banned only the criminals will have them and feel freer to use them knowing the victim most likely is the law abiding citizen that doesn't have one.

They say that there would have been many more deaths at the Trolley Mall if there had been a total gun ban law

Others are:
We will overturn Roe
We will pass an anti-gay marriage amendment to the Constitution

All used successfully in 2000 and 2004 elections.So they keep repeating them even though untrue.

They don't. They do know that it's people like Hillary that trying to take their guns just like they tried with the Brady bill. I think Hillary is afraid of being shot but someone that doesn't like her.

Personally I don't think the government has the right to take any ones guns or regulate what guns or munitions can be owned. Any law restricting anyone is in violation of the constitution.

Considering there was a gun ban in DC recently overturned (thankfully), this is not surprising. Anywhere gun bans exist is an explicit 2nd amendment violation.

You live in KC, not exactly the central point of anti-gun focus.

Because it's their rallying cry.

Because they are and always have been extremely paranoid of hostile enemies just waiting to get them.

Because once they ram some catchphrase idea into their brains like, "The government/liberals want to take away my guns," or "stay the course" or "Democrats just want to raise our taxes" they are unable to deprogram themselves.

You still hear Conservatives throwing around the word Commie even though Communism is long dead. It's the nature of a Conservative to be unable and unwilling to face any new developments or ideas.

Seriously, there is no reasonable explanation for the government to seize weapons from people, unless they are illegal weapons, or if the people possessing weapons are felons.
