It's a fact that Americans are notorious for their poor geography. In one Yahoo! Answers question, when asked which state contained the top 10 tallest US peaks, "Mexico" was one reply (wtf!) and "Kansas" (Great Plains) was another. Only 17 percent of young adults could correctly identify Afghanistan from a map. About 50% could not identify New York or Ohio on a map. Besides Mexico, the US is the most geographically illiterate country, probably due to the common "It's only my backyard that counts" or the "Team America We're-the best in the-world" idea.

Nope. However, most people think that all Hispanic or Latinos come from Mexico....Our geography is pretty pitiful, but that's because it's no longer taught in schools. Half of the people supporting the war in Iraq have no clue where it is...

For Spain they still do know ( at least Antonio Banderas sounds familiar to them), but ask them about Croatia! That's a tough one.

No, but many people believe that anything between Texas and the South Pole is Mexico.
