I have several cans of the same type and brand as some of the recalled dog food, but the expiration date and the UPC code do not match the ones on the recall list, but I am still afraid to feed them to my dogs. What if they come out next week with more to add to the list and the ones I have are on that list? Do you think I am being paranoid? Would you feed canned soft food with gravy to your pet even if it was not on the list of recalls? My dogs really love their can of soft food once a day and they have been missing it this week, but I am really scared to feed them anything. I do not want to cause them to be sick or die. They trust me and I want to do the best thing for them. Maybe I should just go and buy a big roast and cook it with gravy and feed them that for the next week. Its all so scary.

I have mixed feelings. My animals all eat dry food and the manufacturer of these foods (Eukanuba and Nutro) have indicated in their press releases that their dry foods are produced by another supplier and not Menu Foods. So on that front I feel reasonably safe and have continued to feed my animals their dry food from these companies. I don't like switching food on my animals unnecessarily, especially my dogs because it does lead to stomach upset and in one of my dogs, allergies. Based on the information I have been given, my faith that these companies have provided me with good quality food for years and the fact that my animals continue to be healthy, I am continuing to use their dry products.

Menu Foods in their press release has indicated that the timing of the complaints of ill animals coincided with a change of supplier for their wheat gluten and that they have since changed suppliers and begun manufacturing again. But since they have not been able to definitively pinpoint the toxin in the food at this point, I would not feel comfortable feeding anything produced by Menu Foods.

This is just my personal opinion. Everyone I guess has to decide for themselves.

I do trust the brands of food (canned and dry) that I feed to my cats and dog. I only feed holistic brands of food. They tend to use smaller farms, companies for their ingredients. This way the recipe and formula are very consistant and easy to trace back if there was a problem. I also like the fact that holistic brands of food do not make a supermarket brand of food. They stick to a high quality formula with one or two varieties.
I feed my dog Canidae Lamb and Rice. She will occasionally get canned food from Canidae, Merrick, Solid Gold and Wellness.
My cats eat Wellness Light and get the following canned foods: Wellness, Felidae, Innova, Chicken Soup and Merrick.

I've never had a problem with any of these foods and would rather pay more money for quality ingredients and then less money for a lower quality food. When this recall came out, I didn't worry about that what I was feeding might have been tainted. I did, however, watch some of my friends and co-workers panic. We lost about 100 cans/packets of canned food at my shelter that was recalled. In that situation, our food is donated so I did show concern. We try to feed the higher quality foods that are donated but use just about any type of canned food because it is primarily given as a treat or with medication. Thankfully no animals became ill but it did give my co-workers something to think about

Yes, I trust the ones that are not listed on the recall. I would never get food from a big box store, so I just don't buy those brands that are recalled to begin with. That food is crap to start with.

I don't feed any of my animals that crap food on the recall list anyway. Try researching a good holistic dog food that isn't full of fillers and chemical preservatives.

There are many brands available that were not manufactured at the Canadian facility. Try a new brand and hope for the best. Give raw hamburger as a special treat. They will love it!

Yes feed them your left overs until you feel it is all ok to stop and feed them their delicious canned food. Of course they think it is delicious! LOL!
