Huuuuge mistakes. Japan attacked Pearl Harbor more as a "we own you" sort of message. Out of pride, so it seems. They drew the U.S. into the war, and the U.S. basically won the war for the Allies (not by itself, but without the U.S. the Allies were getting trashed). Hitler's attack on the Soviet Union was also a terrible decision. He did this out of greed, wanting more land. He betrayed his ally...but failed at bringing the Union to its knees. Needless to say, the Soviets came back and were a huge factor when it came to the Allies becoming victors.

Hitler's attack on Russia was a bad idea, mainly because his goal meant for victory before winter. He had little to no plans worked out concerning winter, so when that hit, it all went downhill for him. If he had been able to survive the winter, it may have held differently. Apparently, he didn't learn from Napoleon.

Then with Pearl Harbor, the Japanese made two errors. The first was to attack while the American Aircraft carriers were out on maneuvers. If the carriers had been at Pearl Harbor during the attack, they might have crippled the American Pacific Fleet. They did not, however, and those same carriers made the force of the counterattack on Midway island.
The second mistake was a lapse in communications. The Japanese ambassador to the US was supposed the deliver the declaration of war several hours before the attack. This was made to be cordial to the US, who Japan respected, and wished to show honor towards. It reached the president several hours after the attack. This infuriated the administration, who then informed the public. This helped to inflame public opinion about the war in the pacific, as it was seen as a horrible gesture to give a declaration of war after a surprise attack.

Attackign Russia was the first of Hitler's two mistakes, the second was declaring war on the US. The moment he broke his treaty with Russia was the beginning of Germany's losing the war in Europe.

Japan mistake was actually not following the plan of Pearl Harbor by Yamamoto. He want the declaration to come 'before' the attack. The Japanese diplomats failed in their mission meaning that the attack occured while the two countries were still 'technically' at peace.

I agree on the two counts. Hitler had a non-aggression p.c.. with Stalin in the previous the conflict with the intention to sidestep having to combat a 2-front conflict. besides the shown fact that, by utilising the time Hitler attacked the Soviet Union, Stalin were making extra & extra demands for this reason a techniques as territory. Stalin grow to be charging Hitler a severe cost to stay impartial. perhaps, if Hitler knew basically what proportion reserve troops Russia had, he might have thought two times approximately attacking. curiously the Russians had extra troops than the Germans found out. by utilising the top of the conflict, the Russians have been scuffling with a extra perfect marketing campaign, besides. so a techniques as Pearl Harbor, had the jap completely destroyed the finished US Pacific fleet, then perhaps it would have been a sturdy circulate on their area. yet that wasn't the case. i've got additionally heard that Hitler did no longer think of the U. S. ought to combat effectively in 2 theaters of conflict. He predicted the U. S. to combat ordinarily in the Pacific. needless to say Hitler grow to be incorrect.

Hitler probably should of had Japan invade Russia (instead of Pearl Harbor) in the west while he was invading Russia in the east which would have meant Stalin would have had no reinforcements for Hitler.

Both were miscalculations. Both Hitler and Tojo felt that a massive first strike would cripple their respective opponents militaries.

Fortunately, they were both wrong.
