Here's my dilema.I've asked this a few times before, even searched for questions and still not the right answer. I'm trying to make my Divx player my default player instead of WMP 11. Theirs not the right codecs pack for Vista yet. I've heard several suggestions such as "right click on file and open w/". Well as any Limewire user knows thats not an option. Please someone who really knows how to make this work please help.Alot of people who don't use W Vista or Limewire try to help but its no help.

i don't use divx or wmp, i recommend using media player classic, it is included in the K-Lite codec pack http://www.filehippo.com/download_klite_codec_pack/
during the last part of the installation you can set media player classic as the default player for various types and this will open any movie/ video, including flash and quicktime videos

highly recommend and its free

let me know if this helps

I have vista, limewire, and divx. I still use the WMP11 as my default player however the divx player if downloaded correctly (as we all have learned with vista may require a second download) will convert the movies so that you can watch them with WMP 11. GL

1. stop using limewire... save yourself from the RIAA
2. the right click "open file with" option only shows up if you open the file from a windows window.... not in limewire. You need to find out where that file really is on the computer.
3. go to control panel -> folder options -> file types tab... and change the default software used to open .avi files (or whatever other file type you want to change)

Maybe you have to delete Windows Media for it to work...
