Yes, there is a much better program. This is elite software. The best out there is Spysweeper with Antivirus. It blocks, catches, and shields over 171,500 threats. No other software can compare or match half of that. Spysweeper is 2nd to none.

mcafee and norton, are not actually that good. avast is very good but can slow an older machine down!. what i would suggest is using AOL's free active virus scan, it is basically kaspersky 6 with a couple of bits taken off. it has some very very good reviews, and has done very well equal with avast in trapping virus's. it is highly useable, with a wide range of different options, very light on resources after the initial scan oh and yes it is free. i have installed this on 12 - 14 machines that i maintain, and have no virus issue since it has been installed on any of the pc'c. you have to register via email to get your activation code, that is all. also i would recommend downloading spybot search and destroy, zone alarm free(firewall) ccleaner(cleans crap ect) and lavasoft se personal, all free and very good, run anti virus every 4-5 days on a smart scan and run your ccleaner once a week and finally run spybot and lavasoft once a wekk , independently. this will be enough to keep your system running well. as i say all the ones i look after have these programs, and whenever i go to back them up and check them, they are all running very well. try it, you can always uninstall if you dont like them. follow the tutorials for zone alarm, they are very good and you will understand how the application works, far better.

Hope all this helps!

AVG. Free to download and you just update it regularly. When I downloaded it, it found 13 viruses that Norton had missed. There was a computer guy on the radio and someone asked him what was the best one and he said that AVG was the best for domestic computers.
It also scans you PC regularly and alerts you if you have a virus and then it either heals it or puts it into quarantine.

mcafee is rather crap tbh, i got a free 1yr subscription and ended up uninstalling it after 4 months as it was annoying me that much. I had loads of problems with it and when i tried to get help i got sent to "chat live with a technician" which turned out just to be a just an automated responce program!!!! was very weird as they tried to lead you to believe you are talking to a real person! after that i was too freaked out to use them again.

now I've gone back to agv which i used for years in the past. its never let me down!

Yes there is, I use AntiVir. its a free virus scanner. I think its the best out there, better than AVG which I used to use. they have a web site. just google it. and what ever you do, DO NOT use Norton or that AOL software, you will regret it.
I have heard nothing but good about Kaspersky, but they do not have a free version, AntiVir is free.

Kaspersky.com. I hear its in the Top 10 for Internet Security Suites 2007. It may cost $79.95, but its worth it in a heartbeat. Anything to protect a computer from numerous viruses and everything else that is out there.
