I have recently incurred an obscene amount of overdraft fees which I feel is partially my banks fault. But I also cannot pay all the fees, and be able to pay my bills. I know in the UK there are ways to reclaim your money. But how would one in the US go about doing that?

I spoke to a rep over the phone, and I visited the branch. They were both less than helpful. :(

You have to call the bank and insist on talking to the Branch Manager. He/She is the only one that can decide to reimburse you on the fees. Talk to them and explain you issue. You can work something out. But talk only to the Branch Manager. I work in a bank and the fact that they won't even work with you is ridiculous.

You cannot blame the bank for your overdraft fees. You are the one in charge of your bank account. You are the one who writes the checks.

What you need to do is start balancing your checkbook, so that you will not have any more bank fees incurred.

You have to start being responsible for yourself, not making anyone else responsible for you.

Try to speak with a supervisor over the phone. Explain what happened. If possible, go inside the bank and see if you can get help that way...
