I have a Dell Demension 4400 with only a 250 watt power supply. I want to upgrade my video card to a higher end one but many require much higher than mine has. I've looked at specifically made dell power supplies and came to the conclusion that the price was just too high (80 dollars for only 350W). I've also heard that not all power supplies will fit in my case. So does anyone know a power supply 450W+ that will work for me?

your case is a standard ATX case.. just get any ATX power supply... should work just fine... should be around $50 for a 400 watt... thats all you need. Really, your 250 might be enough... you might want to just wait on the power supply until after you've installed the video card. If your system crashes... then get the better power supply.

the video card will run with the current power unit, but when you're playing intense games it might crash... so i'd test that first before you run out and possibly waste your money

Here is the Best Answer add a dedicated power supply for your graphics card only cost around $50.00 and it fits in a drive bay:

This will add 250W to your system you can keep using your existing power supply and install is as easy as a hard drive (it works with nvidia SLI cards)

That price is about right for power supplies, if you dont want to spend that money try to find a computer store in your area that sell used components.

Goto http://www.tigerdirect.com or http://www.newegg.com and you will find better prices there. Copy down the part number of the power supply you want and try googling it.
