i have heard people introduce others like this " this is my cousin, once removed " .... then i have also heard it used like..... this is my aunt twice removed.... what does that mean???? i just cant figure it out...

It means they are separated by a generation. It does NOT mean they were married and divorced.

The cousin of my mother is my cousin, once removed (by a generation).

You see people saying this a lot when people who are separated by a generation are close to the same age.

It's just another way of saying 'this is my second cousin or my great aunt, etc.

It means they are distant relatives. It is much more polite to say this is my nephew or my cousin. I have a cousin that has kids. I call them my nephews. It makes them feel better and less explaining.
