Stereoptyping is putting people into categories based on how people see that 'type' of person. For example if you see a man dressed in a suit carrying a suitcase you might assume he is a professional when in fact he's a conman!

All black people eat watermelon and fried chicken. All black people are good at basketball. All Irish people are drunks. All Irish people fight. Italians are all mafia. Mexicans are lazy. All Canadians play hockey. The Polish are stupid. Jews are penny pinchers. All Germans listen to electronica and wear rubber. All Jamaicans practice voodoo and play in a reggae band. All Asians are good at math and can't drive. All gas stations and convenience stores are owned by Iranians. Indians (dot head, not woo-woo) own every hotel. George Bush hates black people.

A stereotype is a generalization of a certain group or minority. For example, some people say that all metalheads (a group of people) do drugs. Of course, not all metalheads take drugs. Another example would be saying that all blondes are dumb. This isn't true either.

Some examples of stereotypes would be redheads are fiery tempered, or all asians are smart. Also, all Hispanics speak Spanish. Another huge one is all blonds are dumb. A lot of blonds are smart. So, these are some good examples of stereotypes.

All men are sexist pigs.
Americans are sue-happy.
Americans are loud.
Irish are drunks.
All Middle East people are terrorists.
When you hear someone say, "typical man", "typical American", "typical Jew"...that is stereotyping. Generalizing a good or bad trait to a large mass, be it men, women, blacks, whites, Hispanics, etc.

There are stereotypes all around, look on the toilet doors. Notice how all girls are expected to wear skirts/dresses and all guys are expected to wear trousers that is a stereotype.

A stereo type is like an average for an object.
Like most RPG's have the same concept, you have a magic weapon, or fight a tyrant or what ever.
Or Mario games where you have to usually save the Princess.

its an asumption that people act in a way because of popular mis conception
such as all muslims are suicide bombers, all irish people are thick etc etc
