I have tried to get my partner to go to marriage counselling with me for the last 2 months of hell married life. The problem is that he agrees but all these conditions have to be met by me. Has anyone had this experience or has anyones partner refused, what happened to the marriage?

If he won't go, go alone to your own therapist. You probably need clarity if your marriage is on the rocks.

my wife tried that with me. I actually went and when the counselor told her she was the one at fault, she totally disregarded it.
Maybe he think that if you aren't listening now, you never will. That's where the conditions came in.

Forget counseling and read a book "The Proper care and feeding of husbands" by Dr. Laura Schlessinger.
it's $20 versus a lifetime of counseling.

If you even tell your husband you are going to read it, things may get better immediately.

Yes! my EX refused to go to counseling, he was abusive & a violent control freak....still is....note though that he's my EX.......

About one year after we split, he wanted to go to counseling & for us to get back together but by that time, I didn't.....

Too little too late....

Yes. He says there's nothing a counselor can tell him that he doesn't already know. I still haven't went, but I am going to. Do it for youself if for nobody else.

Yes, because he wants to be in control, and be stubborn. I finally divorced him because he didn't even want to try. today he is still single (and so am I) because he can't get along with anyone and always must be in charge.

Go by yourself, they will give you the tools you need to decide if this marriage is salvageable

Mine did and to me it was a slap in the face, and it told me we did not matter to him so I am now SINGLE and I love it. Of course he calls and wants it now but it's too damn late...
