that's a really scary thought.
Al Gore would not have even gone after anyone after 9/11.

If 9/11 had occurred anyway (which is questionable), Gore would have gotten the job done in Afghanistan in a way that Bush has thus far failed to do. We would have had a large, overwhelming force (the Powell Doctrine) to completely finish off the Taliban and stabilize that country rather quickly. You DO know that the Taliban is still causing us major problems, don't you?
We would not have distracted ourselves with an invasion of Iraq. Yeah, maybe Saddam would still be in power, and maybe he wouldn't. But we wouldn't have this messy civil war threatening stability throughout the region, and we wouldn't be arguing about how many troops we need there and how long we need them there.
Domestically, we would have had some tax cuts on a smaller scale than those pushed through by Bush. This, combined with no Iraq war, would have meant far less deficit spending. Consumers would be more optimistic about the economy, the recovery from the recession would have happened faster, and things would be humming along pretty smoothly right now.
Yeah . . . ummm . . . good thing he didn't take office . . .

I'm not sure we would even exist.
Professor Joseph Olson of Hamline University School of Law, St. Paul, Minnesota, points out
some interesting facts concerning the 2000 Presidential election:
Number of States won by: Gore: 19; Bush: 29
Square miles of land won by: Gore: 580,000; Bush: 2,427,000
Population of counties won by: Gore: 127 million; Bush: 143 million
Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Gore: 13.2; Bush: 2.1
Professor Olson adds: "In aggregate, the map of the territory Bush won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of this great country. Gore's territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government welfare..."

I have been waiting for someone to point that out. If Gore would have been Pres. in 2001 (gulp) I shudder to think where we'd be. I doubt the American public would have been satisfied with us sitting around and doing nothing about it; showing no retaliation, but the way the Dems make it sound, that's exactly what would have happened if a Dem. had been president.
And if by some strange turn of events, Gore had also declared war, I expect it would have turned out much the same as this. However, if they had truly pulled out when they thought Bush should have, they would have left Iraq in ruins (or wherever they were fighting), and a perfect breeding ground for more terrorists, so that when a Republican got elected, they could blame the current problems on him (much as they did with Clinton, can't anyone else see the connection?)
Great Question!

You are kidding right?? If ALL the votes were counted and President Gore had been allowed to serve, we would have had a Constitution that is the unchallenged law of the land and a Supreme Court to protect it, elections that are TRANSPARENTLY HONEST, an energy policy that would lead to energy independence of foreign oil, and an extra $trillion, now dumped into the Iraq black hole, a small part of which could have been used to ACTUALLY prevent terrorist attacks while not endangering civil liberties. Down with Dictator Dumbya!!!

Well lets see shall we. Ok one answer said we would not be in Iraq: right, we would cow down to every punk country that threatened us like we did when Clinton was in office. Another said he would have gotten Bin Laudin: Well he and his boss had 3 or 4 chances to get him and said no, so that one is out. In my opinion as one who was in the military the whole time the two of them ran the show I can tell you the military would be delivering red cross packages to the people in Durfir, a place every one wants us to go to help solve the civil war. I am a conservative and very proud of it. I do lean left on some social issues but when it comes to this countries defense and the military then I go pure right. The left can not be trusted with the defense of this country cuz all they want to do it talk, and appease any and every body that threatens us.

We would be able to be free or troops wouldn't be dead and maimed beyond recognition . We wouldn't have our phones tapped, we wouldn't have our email read, we wouldn't have anyone of the government that wants to walk in your home and take what they please without letting you know, we wouldn't be living under Dictatorship, we would have elected President, we wouldn't be in a civil war, we would have a President elected that can read and write. We wouldn't have to listen to George Bush lies daily , no Cheney , no Rice, No war would be would be started breaking the 2nd Constitution , all this mess and war started on George Bush's lies, we would happy and the Iraq people would have electricity, food, not thousands dead. We would have freedom and we would have other countries by our side, their just much to mention . We would be free of George Bush forever etc

1. Probably closer to catching Bin Laden then we are now.
2. Most likely, we would have never invaded Iraq.
3. The EPA might actually have some control over polluters.
These are just a few examples, if you want to attack, make sure that you are able to provide proof. As you see, none of my statements pretend to be absolute fact, unlike yours.

There would not have been any attacks. He would have taken the warnings about the hi-jackings seriously prior to 9/11 as well. And, he would have actually caught bin Laden. Bush has had 6 years to catch Bin laden and has done nothing to get him. Unlike the Bush adminstration who didn't take anything seriously that was coming out of intelligence agencies including the foreign agencies. I can tell you, he wouldn't have been reading "My Pet Goat" at the time if they did get away with the attacks. He would have actually stopped everything he was doing and would have started work. Unlike Bush, he is competant. N.K wouldn't have gotten any Nukes they've gotten since 2000 when Bush cut off talks. And, we wouldn't have attacked Iraq. We'd have a much more thriving economy without such a huge deficit and with a remaining surplus that the Clinton adminsitration left us with. Gas would probably still be low. And, he wouldn't have implemented a subsidy for the Oil industry like Bush did, so that we wouldn't be paying twice for the same gallon of gas. Once at the tank and again with our taxes that Bush is doing.
And, Tom B (below) is right on the money with his analysis of what the bush administration was doing for the first 9 months of his presidency...he was doing nothing. Gore would have actually been working.
