Stale beer will also do the same thing. Fresh beer will work too.

depending on your location,could be woods violet,black horehound native plants one is native of violets and the other a wild herb why do you want to kill them they are very pretty in a small way and even bloom in the snow nice spring,most weed killers work well lol/

Depending on where in the country you are located they could be any number of things. Chicory is crazy wild around my area of IL. So is bindweed. Check with your local extension office if you're unsure.
