Did anyone watch whistleblower on BBC tonight?
What did you think? I completely agree that bank employees are put under WAY to much pressure to reach sales targets, and that does compromise customer service and the ethics of desperate employees. Do you think the BBC was fair to Barclays because surely other banks are the same.

Possibly not. However Barclay's have been hitting the headlines in recent years for closing branches under the flimsy excuse of "restructuring".
In my opinion this restructuring seems to be only of the unprofitable branches, many of which are in small villages, regardless of how this affects the customer who uses these branches. In many cases the branch to be closed is the only one in the area, resulting in a long and unnecessary trip when they only need a couple of things from the local shop.
SERVICE OR PROFIT? I know which i plump for

I didn't see the programme, but I've worked in financial services for 26 years, so I'm well aware of the pressure to reach sales targets, along with some of the methods used. You're right in that all the others are the same. They have to be to get a slice of the action, otherwise they go out of business.

the folk who're followers of whoever the whistle have been given blown against hate the whistleblower. it is not important if we are speaking approximately Snowden or a guy who's mad that his communities cornerback only have been given called for bypass interference--that's the guy with the whistle's fault that the implications befell--if no one blew the whistle, it may be like it never befell. interior the case of government whistleblowers, a marvelous type of persons see this as an attack on the government (and by ability of extension, their usa) so they get mad. Others have not deserted 6th grade civics and experience that the folk are the rustic and have an precise to comprehend what elected, appointed, and employed officers are doing, fantastically while they're hiding strikes that pass against what they have been taught usa and living in a loose usa is all approximately. With company whistleblowers, they many times experience that a disgruntled worker is finding for an added paycheck while they end. i hit upon it no longer hassle-free to have confidence that any recommended insider might do this for money--beneficial they get triple damages for something carried out to them, and a proportion of any money the government became defrauded out of--yet that many times would not upload as much as sufficient money to be extremely worth dropping your profession and commencing over. interior the case of somebody like Snowden, he exceptionally lots had to renounce his finished existence. So, he's the two as loopy as (yet much less murderous than) the unabomber , or he extremely felt that the well-known public had to comprehend this better than he had to stay his existence.

I am sure these practices are widespread amongst all financial institutions, mu husband used to work for a weel known finance company and the pressure to sell extras such as insurance was tremendous and the bonuses big, he left becasue he no longer felt morally able to do the job.

I am also senior management are aware of theses practices but turn a blind eye or in some cases actively encourage so figures are met, leaving us as customers to pick up the pieces.
