My ex husband became an electrical engineer with TI with a B.S. (4 years) in Electrical Engineering; he went on to get a Masters of Engineering Management though.

The average university has a four year program to get a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.

In the US, typically four years of undergraduate work for a BSEE, followed by 2 years if you want an MSEE, and then another year+ to develop a doctoral thesis if you plan to pursue a PhD. It really depends on the educational level you want to achieve.
