The continual terrorist and insurgent bombing would suggest that no one has been conquered, only inconvenienced.
This isn't a war. Its not an occupation. Its a massive f*ck-up. Its as if the American government sent the army to a stone arch, ordered it to pull out the key stone and then continue to keep it from falling until both sides stand up on their own.. without a serious replacement.

Most of Iraq's army was conquered in Desert Storm. However, now they are engaged in a civil war, something ignored by republicans until only a few days ago.

Because our opponents are watching our liberal news and are convinced that they're winning. At the same time, Bush is wrongly trying to appease the left's requests to make this a "fair" war. What we should have done was come in hot and in full force and this would have been done in 2 weeks. Do you think some insurgent living in a cave has the power to go toe-to-toe with us? Not likely. We're still there because Bush is now trying to do it the Democrats' way. He should have never listened to them because no matter what he does, they still would've hated him so why lose support on the right by trying to appease the left? It doesn't make any sense. But you're absolutely incorrect in thinking we're occupying Iraq. I assume you think that because of oil fields there or something to which I'll respond by saying take an economics course and stop listening to professors in the fuzzy "sciences" of sociology and all that garbage. Think for once.

there is not any conflict in Iraq. The conflict ended 12 days after it began. The Tyrant's in usa are purely taking on a rustic, molding it to the yank subculture. it is taking longer by way of fact the resistence of the Iraqi's. They nevertheless have there very own perception's wherein the individuals thrive on changing. Take there chief, wreck there u . s . a ., rob them of there riches, and then humiliate them. that's no longer a conflict, that's a bully choosing on a ill infant at college. yet you will hear human beings contradict while it is damn splendid seen whats happening.

There is a Civil War between the Shihites and the Sunnis. We are an occupying force. Congress gave Bush the authority to remove Saddam Hussein and the Baathist party from power and to destroy the non existent WMDs.

No, the Iraq war is still going on and a new war has started which is the Civil War in Iraq. We are trying to fight the Iraq war and somehow have a hand containing in the Civil War as well. It is an impossible task. The occupation of Iraq supposedly ended when authority was transferred to the Governing Council.

That's absolutely correct, and it's why we are having so many problems. Rumsfeld et al ignored the advice of Shinseki and others who told him that the invasion would be over fast, and that we'd need a 400,000 strong force to maintain law and order like we did in post-WWII Japan. Mission accomplished you mismanagement morons!
