actually no, you can't use force in defense of property,only as a defense against physical harm. once the person begins walking away from you they are no longer considered a threat.

Depends on your local laws and ordinances. However, generally, there's no problem if you use the minimum amount of force necessary to stop the culprit.. first attempting to cinvince them with verbal persuasion... then esculating up to physical contact or deadly force if your life or limb, or that of another is in danger.

yeah. it's your stuff. get it back. just don't kill the person in the process. you can be charged with assault for spiting or cursing at someone.

Yes if you're just trying to get your stuff back from them you can't be charged with anything unless you kill them but you wouldn't do that ....would you?! I hope that answers your question.

i don't see why you couldn't try to stop them using any reasonable means. if you hit him, then that's another story.

just make sure he swings first, then it's self defense.
