This only seems to happen when typing an email. It happened before, then stopped; ~ but now it has started again......and it is absolutely impossible to go back and insert anything, the way one normally can.
Have I done something to cause this? I am still rather new at learning all the idiosycrasies a computer can have. It is SOOOOO frustrating!
Does anyone have any ideas what to do......or what NOT to do, please? (before I go stark raving mad and start ripping my hair out......I had forgotten how many swear words I knew...!) Thank you.

Egad forsooth.....do I ever feel stupid...I didn't even know there WAS such a thing as an "insert" key until I saw the answers, with 'Charlie' and 'EmG' telling me where to FIND it, even.
Both my long-suffering PC and I thank you very much indeed.

You might have hit the "Insert" button. It's usually located on the right top of the keyboard. This feature deletes as you type. Press it once to activate and again to deactivate it.

There is a button called " insert " , above the delete button on your keyboard , press it , this will fix your problem ...

you need to press the insert button on your keyboard. happens to me all the time...

try hitting the Insert key then have another go
