Will it be a direct flight or will you have to go through Heathrow? About 8 hours.

From charolette, nc to italy will take 14 to 20 hours dependeing on the layovers you have to make. An expensive direct flight is 8 to 10 hours depending on plane weather, headwind etc. Have a great time when yoou do get there, you will forget about the flight real quick.

I live in North Carolina and when we went to Italy; We flew from RDU to NYC to London to Venice- It took a long time; but they always book the flights during the night time so you can bascially sleep the whole way. When you wake up your in a new continent!
I would reccomed getting first class seats when you fly though. When my family did we got first class and it made the trip 100x more enjoyable because we could actually sleep! The coach class had babies crying, people talking, and lights on everywhere.

go to kayak.com (or expedia) and make a tentative travel plan...this will give you the exact time from the closest airport to you to wherever in Italy you want to go...you're looking at about 10 hours plus though depending on connections

new york to france is 7 hours. i'm guessing about 8.
