That depends entirely on the woman. I know 45 year olds who have dated 21 year old sex machines and others who have dated 60 year old professionals with shared interests.
Like any woman, at any age, a 45 year old is looking for compatibility. The specifics of what that means will be unique to each woman.
And while an alarming portion of my gender are highly materialistic, summing it up by saying we just want money is inaccurate. Security can be found in a variety of ways, not all financial.

All the same things she would look for in her 20's and 30's except she may get a little pot belly and some baldness, ha!
Seriously, a fun loving guy with a good sense of humor, a great companion, and yes there is still a sex life at that age.

Maturity, which is something most men don't even begin to develop until their late 30s, in my experience.
Kindness, understanding, empathy, a love of life, good health, non-drinker, non smoker..

i think that depends on the woman, if she is single, she may want a boy toy, if she is married she may want companionship and a soul mate, i think the answer lies in what she doesn't want. someone immature and selfish who can not see past themselves. most women in their 40s do not want to have to raise their men! that is what i think.
