I keep getting a window box that pulls up titled "Select Device," and then in the box the words "The specified location does not contain information about your hardware." I've tried accessing drivers BOTH on the manufacturer's CD-ROM, and then copying the files to my C:\ and accessing them, there...

HELP!

My PC is 5 years old, and at this point, I'll probably run out to Circuit CIty and buy the HP AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 3800+ package they have on sale this week for $520 (after rebates).

I'll probably leave by 7:30PM EST to buy a PC, so if you have any thoughts, I'd REALLY appreciate it. Thanks!

P.S. This whole thing started because I couldn't have my PC communicate with my LXK X3350 3-in-1 printer. The printer works, and I tried another cord last night - to no avail. So, I thought it might be the USB port. So, I got a PCI port with "new" USB 2.0 pors, but the motherboard won't recognize it / the driver...

You should be able to hook the printer into any USB port on your computer. You may need to restart after moving from one port to another, it's not like printer ports where you have to choose a specific one. A couple possibilities that come to mind: -Have you restarted your computer after installing the printer? -Check Start>Settings>Printers to make sure the printer is set as the default. -Have you installed the software for the printer? -Is the printer turned on? -Is the USB cable plugged into the printer? If none of those things is the problem, I would uninstall the printer and software and then disconnect the printer from your computer and reboot your system. After you reboot, install the software and then plug the printer into your computer. If none of this works you may have a problem with your USB drivers. Go to the device manager (Right click on My Computer and select properties. On the hardware tab select Device Manager). Scroll to the bottom of the list and click the + next to Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Do you any of the items listed have a yellow circle with an exclamation point? If so, right click the item and select uninstall. When you restart your computer the device should try to reinstall its self. Without more information, that's the best I can do.
