i dont understand what these two sentences mean so can someone help me?

"This version of masculinity is a little like having to wear an ill fitting coat for ones entire life (by contrast, i imagine feminitity to be an oppressive sense of nakedness)."

"Everyone is aware of how few in number are the athletes who behave like gentlemen."

My guess is that the ill fitting clothing is like a gay person trying to be the gender they are not biologically and suffer in the wrong body for who they believe they are.. Or wearing on your sleeve characteristics that don't fit the A typical, traditional male role in society. When a gay man acts gay people may stare and disapprove as if looking at an unattractive naked women seeing how they have feminine tendencies. Judged on appearance alone of being naked or in this case gay and unable to hide it.
Athletes in large behave as if they are barbarians and battle warriors. Small step from cavemen attitude. No offense Geicco caveman. lol . The number of athletes that are morally upright and civil are limited in number.

It is apparently trying to describe how social pressure can make one interpret correct gender behavior from outside influences ,rather than thier own needs
