Yes according to the tax department a single person only needs $12.000 year after tax to live what sort of living that is Im not really sure. $20.000 for a year in NZ id be getting a part time job if I were you and accommodation is cheaper if you get into a flatting situation sharing with others as for price well that's a open book all depends on what/where you want to live in chch and the small single room apartments Ive seen are dives not something id want to pay my hard earned $$$ for.

Aerospace engineer like me pays you between 18k to 33k depending on the company you work for. For that you`ll need to do an apprenticeship of at least 4 years on crap pay, Work shifts, sometimes weekends and be extremely intelligent, practical, hard working and a consumate perfectionist !

Bus drivers earn that and more. Reading buses pay £28k and First £30k. Most bus companies pay in the region of £20k. As long as you have a car licence, they will train you.

Hi Jane:
Look into Dental assisting or x-ray technician. You can make much more than that; with a small amount of training and schooling. You can even work as you complete your degree!
What fields suit you?

Have you tried claiming benifits instead? By the time you have got help with heating, housing, incontinent grandparents, etc, you'd probably earn more. Remember the program "bread"?
