United Airlines was supposed to Have a Non-stop flight from SFO to Ho Chi Minh City but I cannot find it. Maybe it was stopped. So depending on your airline choice and connection, it is about 19 hours with a stop for a connection in either Taipei or Hong Kong.
18 hours and 30 minutes seems the fastest with a layover.

depends are you flying or by boat? you didn't mention this. however, i will guess your flying it's about an 18 hour flight, but that does not include stops and transfers to other flights.

depends on stopover.....I wanted to fly into HUE and had to go Chicago to Seoul to Hanoi (6 hrs layover) THEN to Hue...
figure around 18 hours and then the time zones/////////////////
