Of course everything is going to depend on how you drive, where you drive, and the type of hybrid that you are getting.

For the most part the larger manufacturers have a much longer warrantee on the batteries than the car itself. The batteries will most likely outlive the car.... they can easily go (for example the one's on the Prius) 180,000miles without any decrease in the performance of the battery or its capacity.
