could be they are jealous because you have things they don't. keep listening to the music you like and dress the way you dress and talk the way you talk. if you are comfortable with yourself that is all that matters.

Because your black friends are complete IDIOTS! I'm a father of three wonder black children. They attend a school district that's majority white, they speak English (clearly) are learning Spanish (two are nearly fluent).

If you have the ability to relate to both "worlds" it's to your advantage. I do not know anything about you or your back ground. However, I know my children. Let me tell you, they have been accused many times of this same foolishness.

On several occasions, they have been told this because they consistently bring home B's and A's. What a self hating comment to make! For a black child or teenager to think under achievement were a sign of Blackness. They are the ones playing into the stereo type of stupidity equaling being black.

I blame their idiot parents not pushing them (your friends) to strive to speak clearly, dress in a manner that uplifts our image and have diverse musical tastes. The fools (the parents) don't have the ability or will to truly prepare their children for the world. How many of your friends parents work with non-Blacks, Hispanics, Asians or native Americans?

Furthermore, achievement in the United States is driven by intelligence. Even then, that intelligence and knowledge only gives you a better chance, it does not garuntee it. The garuntee of failure is speaking like an idiot, dressing like you were just released from prison (pants sagging, etc...) and not having a wide swath of knowledge to draw from.

We as blacks need more people like those I describe putting forth a postitive image and having the intelligence to back it up. Too many of the black youth today are stuck on role models like sports and entertainment starts and too few on Ben Carson, Marcus Garvey, Dr. Charles Drew and the plumber making $60.00 - $150.00 and hour!

Big however! If you shun these friends, act like you are better than them, don't put forth an effort to uplift them and pull them out of their stupor...

YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM AND NO PART OF THE SOLUTION!

It must be the way you act. I was called a "coconut" in highschool because my speech was proper, came from a middle class family, and did not listen to spanish music like all the other hispanic kids at my school. You just don't fit their idea of a black person. It is pure ignorance. You should stay true to who you are and not let them get to you.

Because they're ignorant....Thats something I've dealt with all my life. People are always going to be jealous when you have something they don't or when you're different from what they think you should be.

Just ignore them. You're absolutely fine the way you are and next time tell them you don't talk white...you use proper english and they should try to do the same.

It's a habit of nicknaming people, when someone has red hair, he is nicknamed "blue" or "bluey" if they are tall, they are called "shorty" if someone is a big man and for the purpose of this explanation his name is John, then they call him "little John, or if he is a little man they may call him " big John" etc. So because you fit in so well with this crowd , but you are of dark skin they called you "white". I don't think that they mean any disrepect towards you, it's just a fun thing and a way of showing their acceptance of you.

I'm thinking they don't have a clue. I know more black people that are into music than whites. In any case, it's not the race . . . it's the person.

I'm white, have a decent income and love rap. It drives my friends crazy. They say I act black. Don't give it another thought. Be true to yourself and find new friends if they can't accept you for who you are.

People call me white also because i talk that way. But they do that because they are not used to seeing african americans act so proper and be so formal in the presence. And you shouldn't be mad about it because they are only making themselves look stupid because why call people what they are not

My friends used to do the same thing. Don't let it get to you. I think they're either scared, or just jealous. My mom always told me to never apologize for being what you are. If they can't accept that, maybe you should find some friends who do.

Well they're just being stupid, probably trying to irritate you. The way you act doesn't make you a different ethnicity! LOL! I speak Spanish and listen to Daddy Yankee... does that make me Hispanic? Ummmm no... lol...
