recently my vehicle transmision has failed an I have gotten an estimate of about 1500 . I tried putting in a salvage transmission in, but it did not work.

now I have decided to return it to the salvage for a refund and use that money to attemp reparing my old transmission

I have all the standard tools such as sockets and wrenches used for motor repair, but I have never opened up a transmission

I found a rebuid kit on ebay

and a manual to doing the entire procedure at

Ive been told by some ppl tho that special toos may be requiered and was wondering which ones and ihow explensive.
ps. I dont know much about transmission so I am guessing the A4ld is an AOD ??

an a4ld is not even close to aod or an aode or a 4r70w. an a4ld is just that an a4ld. been a few years sence i did one.

there is two tools(both for the same) either a press(to compress the spring and remove the clutches.or a long screw weld it to a plate at one end and a fly nut at the other

when removing ...do not use prays bars.
think of tranny as a tube or pipe.when removing....put the parts in the same order as it comes.(replace the cluches and broken parts by just removing them, and inserting the new ones, in the train of parts over the bench)
the first thing is the pump and the rest goes as higher gears to lower gears.
the first thing You have to remove is the oil pan and the valve train(be careful there is a bunch of small ball don't lose them)
also remove the sensor (output and input) then procede to remove the pump.

any question?. come back to Yahooo answer.
