My husband just started new job, but coverage won't start until 90 days. Any suggestions because I believe I am 6 weeks already. 90 days is a ways away.

Check with Planned Parenthood. Even if they can't help you, they may know of someplace you can get health care until your hubby's insurance kicks in. Good for you for wanting to do the right thing and make sure you and your baby are healthy.

Do you have a health clinic in your area? Usually these will give you some free preliminary assistance, such as testing you and giving you proof of pregnancy and giving you guidelines of what to eat, do, etc. Some will even do pelvic exams. I don't think a place like this would be able to do ultrasounds or anything in-depth, so you definitely need to get to a regular doctor by the time you're 12 weeks. If you don't get the medicaid and your husband's insurance hasn't kicked in yet, can you afford one doctor's visit, as long as insurance will pay for the rest?

First off, you'll be fine.

Next, talk to your husband's work. Sometimes you can put the insurance in a faster track due to illness.

Also, still apply for medicaid. Call them and ask them to act quickly.

Find a supplemental insurance, state farm has a program that will cover you for short term. Some health departments also do prenatal care for little to no cost. Here in OKlahoma they do.

There is a program called Maternity Card that offers substantial discounts for maternity care and they work with some great doctors so you won't have to skimp on the care for cheap service.

Check out your local hospitals, as many have pre-natal clinics that are free or sliding scale. You may also check with OB/GYN docs for suggestions on any clinics. Check your local phone book for clinics or numbers to help pregnant women. Good Luck!

It sounds like you have done all you can do, but I wouldn't wait to see if you get it or not before you see a doctor. The first months of medical care are really very important. You will just have to pay for your first few visits that is all you can do.
