Quadratic formula: [-b ± ?(b^2 - 4ac)]/2a To get the values for a, b, and c interior the quadratic formula, the equations has to equivalent 0. a million.) 3m^2 + 6m = 3 (subtract 3 from the two facets) 3m^2 + 6m - 3 = 0 (element out 3) 3(m^2 + 2m - a million) = 0 ===> a = a million, b = 2, c = -a million *you have additionally used 3 for a, 6 for b, and -3 for c extremely of factoring out the three because of fact the equation nonetheless equaled 0. even although, I went forward and factored out the three because of fact this is merely easier to artwork with smaller numbers. m = [-b ± ?(b^2 - 4ac)]/2a m = [-2 ± ?(2^2 - 4(a million)(-a million))]/2(a million) m = [-2 ± ?(4 + 4)]/2 m = [-2 ± ?(8)]/2 m = [-2 ± ?(4*2)]/2 m = [-2 ± 2?(2)]/2 m = -a million ± ?(2) <===answer 2.) x^2 + 5x - 4 = 0 ===> a = a million, b = 5, c = -4 x = [-b ± ?(b^2 - 4ac)]/2a x = [-5 ± ?(5^2 - 4(a million)(-4))]/2(a million) x = [-5 ± ?(25 + sixteen)]/2 x = [-5 ± ?(40-one)]/2 <===answer
