In the 1989 Stanley Cup Final, when the Calgary Flames beat the Montreal Canadiens, 4-2, to give team Captain Lanny McDonald his only Cup. Doug Gilmour scored the Cup winner that year, which I believe is the only time that the Montreal Canadiens lost the last game of the Stanley Cup finals at the old Forum. But definitely 1989 was the last time 2 Canadian teams met for the Cup. 1993 was the last time a Canadian team won the Cup, with Montreal beating Wayne Gretzky and the Los Angeles Kings, 4-1, to win their last Cup at the old Forum. Also, 1989 was the only time that Patrick Roy lost a Stanley Cup final series, as he won 4 Cups in 5 Finals appearances. So, in conclusion, Calgary and Montreal met in the Final in 1989, with Calgary winning it in six games, as the last time that 2 Canadian teams met for Lord Stanley's Cup.

I almost kicked my television over on May 25,1989 when the Flamers beat my Habs...and in the scared hockey shrine that was The Montreal Forum none the less. Damn you Dougie Gilmour!!!!!

Oddly enough, 5 years earlier in 1986 when Montreal defeated Calgary for the cup, we won it on their home ice.....so I guess they were just getting even.
