I read yesterday someone posting a question about Star Trek and the dominions. I am a huge VOY nut and I have a question. Is the dominion ever featured on VOY? The Borg is the only REAL threat other than Species 8472. Am I missing something here? I am watching the last few seasons when they were on contact with the Federation and see nothing of the dominion. What is the dominion exactly? I hear that the changling from DS9 controlled them and they were basically wiped out. Does this mean the dominion were wiped out?

Well, from what I can see, and I've just seen the VOY episode Message in a Bottle (1998), the Federation war with the Dominion is still going on in the alpha quadrant- keep in mind the air date is 1998 and the DS9 and Voyager timelines coincide until DS9 goes off the air in 1999. The difference is that Voyager is in the delta quadrant and I don't believe the Dominion war ever makes it there.
The two end episodes of DS9's What You Leave Behind (1999) tell the story of Odo's cure of the female changeling (and therefore all changelings through the great link) and her subsequent call for a Dominion retreat from the alpha quadrant. The total Dominion was never wiped out, nor the changelings who controlled it (Odo's cure saved the changelings). The war was over.
Races joining forces with the Dominion- Cardassia (which later rebelled against it), the Breen, the Hunters, and the Changelings' own genetically engineered Vorta and Jem'Hadar.

Yes, the Dominion was mentioned in Voyager. In Voyager's 4th season, which coincided with DS9's 6th season, the Voyager episode Hunters mentioned the dominion.

Chakotay had to give B'Elanna some bad news he received via the Hirogen relay station.

"It's all over. there are no more Maquis. The Cardassians wiped them all out. It seems they have a new allie, a species from the Gamma Quadrant."

The Dominion are never seen in Voyager, but as someone already said they are mentioned in the episode 'Hunters'. They are also mentioned in the episode 'Message in a Bottle' in which the Doctor is transmitted to a Federation ship at the edge of the Alpha Quadrant. Throughout the episode, the Doctor meets and competes with a newer more up to date medical hologram. At one point the new hologram says that the Federation, "...doesn't use leeches anymore..." or something like that to imply that Voyager's medical knowledge has become rather primitive. Eventually, the new doc says something like they've had to upgrade because of their fight with the Dominion which had apparently just ended.

Well looks like everyone answered about the voyager part. So I'll let you know the races of the Dominion. It's a make up of The Vorta, Jem'Hadar and Founders which control them all. They also have an alliance with the Cardassians.

The dominion were Never on Voyager. I don't remember if they were ever mentioned but came from the Gamma Quadrant to the Alpha Quadrant and only seen on deep space nine. The Voyager took place in the Delta Quadrant.
