I like Octavian Augustus.

Octavian Augustus - because he was an emperor who actually wanted to better Rome, and he sacrificed to do it.

He also extended the month of August so that his month would be just as long as Julius Caesar's month (July). Poor, poor February, getting robbed a day like that...

I like Octavian also because he really is the first true emperor of Rome. Still I prefer Constanine because he was the first Christian emperor of Rome. He also brought together the council of Nicea and standardized the bible also making christianity, once persecuted, the primary religion of Rome. Second place is a tie between Octavian and Diocletian.

BTW: Julius Caesar died before Augustus became the first emperor.
