mine were always working and I felt upset they couldn't (course, now I realise they were having to earn a living)

I feel the same as you. It hurt my feelings that my dad didn't come to any of my softball games or school plays, and I resented that for a while, but now I realize how much of a hard worker he is and had to make up for my mom walking out on us.

yeah my mom did because she was a housewife but my dad worked. eventually I outgrew that stage of wanting her around and she didn't want to stop. I had to beg her not to come on fieldtrips anymore, I got tired of being teased and not being able to have fun with my friends because she was right over my shoulder. she wasn't a "cool" parent so I hated having her around at school and then again at home.

Never a one. But I turned out okay. Kids friends are usually around school to support them.

No. They worked, and we had a farm on top of it. So, attending my school events wasn't on their radar. (*shrug*) I actually didn't mind since I was the youngest and they had never done it for any of my siblings. So, I thought it was normal and all those parents who attended were odd.

I didn't participate in many school events myself... and if I did my single mom was rarely there, but some family member would generally show up, well drive me there and stick it out...

I didn't want them to come and see me. I was too shy. I think they were sneaking behind people though, I caught them a couple of times.

my mom didn't work when we were little and we lived across the street from the school. if they didn't attend, there would be a big problem.
