I prefer powerpoint.
(But then, I'm a computer guy - we do almost all our presentations in powerpoint)

I remeber my daughter doing a presentation on something like, "How to make an ice-cream sundae' or something to the effect.
So on her table she had everything fixed up real nice and commenced to making a sundae. After wards everyone got a little sundae as a treat. She said it was fun and of course the class loved it, even though they probably already knew how.She is real funny without trying to be so the class got a kick out of it, she covered everything she needed to as far as the assignment and got an 'A' .Be last because it will be the best! Oh, wear one of those hats the 'soda jerks wore,' that might help!
You can also demonstrate how to make 'tin-can icecream' like the campers do. Small cofee can with cream ,sugar and vanilla put lid on and insert into largest coffee can, then fill space with icecubes and icecream salt.Put lid on and have everyone take turns rolling it back and forth.Ona good day it'd take 15-20 min to make icecream. They could do this while you gave your demonstration with storebought icecream. Give everyone a little taste

How about flannel board? You take cardboard cover it with felt. Purchase other colors of felt and cut them out in the shapes/letters/numbers that are needed. Felt sticks to felt!
It's an old idea, but still works!
Or there is the old charade type presentation.
Can you demonstrate something? Like how to make something?? Or how to play an instrument???

I had a children's lit class last semester and we had to make a movie with Moviemaker or Inspiration. They are sort of like power point, but you can save them on a dvd-rom and play it on a regular dvd player or a computer. If there is that sort of technology where you are presenting, you should give those a shot. Good luck.
