His offense will certainly go down as top 10. He hasn't won a defensive player of the year like Jordan yet, he hasn't led the league in steals like Jordan yet so his defense is still sub-par........

Has he surpassed Domique Wilkins, Clyde Drexler, D. Wade?

In terms of Bryant's overall skill, he is arguably one of the best shooting guards to have graced the NBA stage. As far as his effectivity as a player and as the leader of the Lakers is concerned, a healthy D-Wade or a considerably "less-skilled" Steve Nash prove to be better choices.

And all those MJ comparisons? Please!

I remember during the '95-'96 season when the Bulls went 72-10 and recorded the best regular season showing by any team in NBA history. 85% of the games played in the 82 game-strong calendar were blowouts and were interestingly decided by the end of the 2nd quarter. In these games, MJ could have focused on getting himself 60+, 70+ or even 80+ points. Well, he didn't! For the millions of people watching these games during that year it was obvious that MJ pretty much settled into the team system Phil was implementing at that time and wanted to be sure that the bench were given their playing time in order to ensure the effectivity of the triangle offense in any type of situation the Bulls may be subjected too. Case in point? Fans got to know Randy Brown, Jud Beuchler, Bill Wennington, Steve Kerr. etc.

Also, MJ's greatness extends beyond his ability to score. He was the best defensive big guard of his generation. He had great court sense and well-developed basketball instincts. He knew when to "zone-in" or "zone-out". Most importantly, he is twice the champion Bryant is literally and figuratively.

To mention Bryant's name in the same breath as Jordan's is a disservice to Bryant.
People knew all along - Take away Shaq, the Bling Dynasty crumbles. That's why the Heat are champs and the Lakers...well?...poor Phil!

ok why are you comparing him to MJ? the standard of who goes down as top 10 is not set by MJ's career. if that's the case, a whole lot of people wouldn't even be considered or even mentioned. as a matter of fact, that would pretty much eliminate 90% of the history of the league. why is Jerry West still considered one of the best? Kobe is as potent and dangerous a shooting guard as anyone who ever put on a uniform. i mean come on... the man scored 81 pts in a game! to say nothing of him scoring 65 and 50 in back to back games...he has 2 of the top four 2- game point totals in history, which puts him in the company of only MJ and Wilt. that's pretty exclusive...don't you think? Kobe has also played a huge role in the Lakers winning 3 championships. now that is definitely something that puts him in elite company. this year alone he's averaging 30 pts, 5 boards and 5 assists. No how can a ball hog avg 5 assists? he's not even the point guard...he's a SHOOTING guard, and the star of the team. the Lakers need him to take 30 shots just to have a fighting chance of being mediocre. and to top all of that off, he has the pleasure of guarding the toughest players in the league...night after night. he may not avg 2.3 steals a game, but 1.5 is still better than most. now how many players actually want the assignment of playing defense against the top scorers in the game? not many. so please tell me why Kobe wouldn't or shouldn't be top 10 of all time?

Kobe Bryant will be remembered probably as one of the best SG ever, but frankly, noone could ever surpass Michael Jordan at position no.1. Kobe is sometimes too selfish. He has his moments, highlitghts even, but his defence is also not on the level of MJ who was more than once chosen as the best defender of the year in NBA, besides beeing more than once best offence player.
Also, MJ had something that Kobe also does not have - he was a true clutcher. Whenever it was rough and tough, MJ took the ball and did it almost every time. Kobe can not resolve the game every time.

ESPN: i might value it a 6 or 7. I lol'd after i spotted Griffin on there. each and every diverse participant is advantageous, besides the shown fact that Chris Paul should not be that severe; he's been extremely puffed up in recent times. each and each Amar'e Stoudemire and Carmelo Anthony are extra perfect, extra numerous gamers than Blake Griffin, they many times deserve the spot. Even gamers, at the same time with Steve Nash, Rajon Rondo, Zach Randolph, LaMarcus Aldridge, and Manu Ginobili deserve an greater spot than Griffin. Y!A: i might value that a 9; I virtually completely believe it, besides the shown fact that I extremely have Dwight Howard plenty extra perfect than that. fairly than that, that's comparatively precise. SI: i might supply that a 7 or 8; it grow to be as quickly as a superb luist up until eventually i spotted Pau Gasol's call. I extremely do no longer see why adult women and men placed that guy on the final 10 nevertheless; definite, he achieved sturdy in the Finals final year, besides the shown fact that he basically isn't very regularly happening. My record: a million. LeBron James 2. Dwyane Wade 3. Dwight Howard 4. Dirk Nowitzki 5. Kobe Bryant 6. Kevin Durant 7. Chris Paul 8. Derrick Rose 9. Deron Williams 10. Carmelo Anthony 11. Amar'e Stoudemire (i mandatory to sneak him on there)

TOP TEN SHOOTING GUARDS OF ALL-TIME

1. Micheal Jordan . retired

2. Kobe Bryant

3. George Gervin. retired

4. Clyde Drexler . retired

5. Reggie Miller .retired

6. Allen Iverson

7. Bill Sharman . retired

8. Earl Monroe .retired

9. Ray Allen

10. Vince Carter

-Lebron, Wade, Micheal Redd, Richard Hamilton, Ben Gordon, Joe Johnson do not make this list because they are either too young to have done anything or they are not true shooting guard like Lebron James who is 245 pound SF/PG

But by far Kobe Bryant is in the top ten and he is #2 on the list of true shooting guards, Vince Carter will be fought for the 10th spot by Dwayne Wade and Richard Hamilton, since he really does not play the shooting guard positon, and plays more SF.

Kobe is ranked 1st. He has clearly surpassed Jordan, and has revolutionized the SG position. Plus, Jordan wasn't even a true shooting guard, he was more a SF/SG.

Kobe Bryant: 81pt Game, 65pt Game, 62pt Game - Look at those figures and then tell me he isn't the TOP SHOOTING guard.
