I have tried making firefox the main browser, like many have suggested but it still doesn't work. I am running windows vista if that matters.

With Firefox open Click on the Tools link on the top of the page.
Then click on the "options" link. A new box will open up. Click on the "Main" tab on the upper left. Near the bottom of the box is the "System Defaults" option. Make sure a check mark is in front of the box called "Always check........"

There is also a a box called "Check Now" click on that id Firefox is NOT your default browser it will tell you.

It's easier than it may sound from reading my gibberish.

If you have Windows XP, you can disable Internet Explorer and force the system to accept Firefox as the default browser. You can't remove it because it's part of windows, but you can go to Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel and when the list loads, on the left side, click on Add/Remove Windows components. Find Internet Explorer and remove the checkmark by it. Close the control panel and restart the computer. The next time you log into the internet it should ask if you want to make Firefox your default browser, and you click OK, or Yes.

Open Firefox browser: Go to Tools -> options -> Main Tab

In the main tab you have system defaults, click "check now" button and make your firefox as default browser.

Firefox:
Tools > Options > Main
Check... "Always check that Firefox is default browser."

Internet Explorer:
Tools > Internet Options > Programs
Uncheck... "Internet Explorer should check whether it is default browser"

If Firefox wants to be default say yes. if Internet Explorer wants to be default... say no.

Now they will stop fighting.

All you have to do is go to the menu bar and click on the tools button, then click options. Make sure that you are in the tabs section and check the the box in a new tab, under the box labeled Open links from other applications. Then click okay.
