And I do mean any sport, pro or amateur. You can bring up a few examples, but you must make a case for one.

Old Hoss Radbourne holds the major league record in a season for wins by a pitcher with 59.This stat cant even be touched in common days because the pitchers dont even get that many starts. In modern day history though,Denny Mclain holds the record with wins in a season with 31 done in 1968.

there are many records in basketball that will be very hard to beat....but when it comes down to it, i think the hardest will be what Scot Skiles did.....30 assists in a regular season game. with a team that finished the season 18-64

in a sport that is very much 'me first', making the assist is a lost art form. players are struggling and still arent reaching double digit assists on a regular basis. as for all the other individual statistics, im sure some will be broken if not challenged. but i think cracking the 30 assist mark will be VERY hard. making the pass means knowing ur team mate will hit the shot....this isnt always the case where a player will finish the play....leaving ur fate in the hands of another player....its a lot harder ten getting a rebound or hitting a shot

Probably in baseball and both due to the fact that to play that long now is so unlikely. Both Rose's hit record and Cal's consecutive game streak will never be broken. Injuries seem to not be played through as much now as by those two players in their day. No one puts up the numbers in hits that Rose did in a so many of a his first few years so to even come close to his all time total will never happen. Cal's game streak is never going to be broken since due to his special value to the old Balt Orioles he probably was kept out there at times or even not shopped to other teams after down years. Now a days owners and GM want a quick fix have no loyalty to the traditions of the team and would sit him or trade him. Even players today have no loyalty to the team that brought them up so they would go to FA. Cal sat in Baltimore when at times he could of made more elsewhere not a player would go for the money.

Cy Young had a career total of 511 wins on the pitching mound. This record is way unbreakable because pitchers simply do not last as long as they did in Young's day.

Today's pitchers struggle to make the 300 club. Roger Clemens, for example, currently has 280 career wins. He would need 231 more to catch Young.

this is probably the best question i've seen since i joined yahoo answers! much respect.
now there are a few very good ones out there...and i say this.
100 points in a game will be surpassed. Kobe couldv'e done it. UCLA winning 7 straight titles is awesome. these days you can't even get a team to win 2 straight. the bulls winning 6 titles in 8 seasons is a good one. but for me i'm going with Wilt Chamberlain grabbing 55 boards. it's just a personal choice thinking how hard it is to get rebounds. I would also like to give kudos to the guy that mentioned Oscar Roberston having 41 triple dubs in a season. I knew he averaged a triple dub for a season, but i didn't know that specific number. only problem is i believe he played for the Milwaukee Bucks...not Boston. Nice try.

UCLA's record of seven consecutive basketball championships will not be broken because of the expanded field and the early entry of students into the NBA. The odds against repeating once, for any program, are daunting.

Further, there is no real change in the process on the horizon that would make consecutive championship runs more likely. Neither can any one freak of nature athlete come along to break the record, as it is a team effort.

2,632 consecutive games played by Cal Ripken Jr. 16 seasons and the streak ended voluntarily. That type of durability and ability to play effectively over such a span is remarkable. It will never be broken by any athlete in any sport. People will say, yes, but it's baseball and they don't do much. Chances are that you sit behind a desk at work, which is still less than what ball-players do. Now try to work every day you're supposed to for 16 years... I bet you won't be able to do it.

All the records above are remarkable and PROBABLY will stand the test of time, but COULD be broken one day.

Cy Young's career 749 complete games will not.

Complete games are VERY rare in Baseball these days, even if that changed and someone had 20 a year for 25 years that's only 500.

Johnny Vandermeer's MLB record of 2 no hitters in a row. That will never ever ever ever be broken. Maybe tied, never broken. Wilt's 55 boards will one day be broken. It will take a LONG LONG time. Dennis Rodman used to frequently get 30 in single games. Some day there will be some player with Rodman's rebounding knowledge who is 7'2". They will beat 55.

Oscar Robertson's 41 triple doubles in a SINGLE season (he played for the Boston Celtics NBA), he filled up the stat sheets every night, he was one of the greatest basketball players of all time and very under appreciated, I mean 41 triple doubles that's half the season of games, and the rest he got a double double, that's averaging a double double! that's in sane although Wilt's 100 points is impressive Kobe got within 13 so it can be broken, and all the other sports have crappy records Basketball records are the most well known and the most unbreakable
