I know for sure I have a sprained wrist. Yesterday I fell on it, and I got it SLAMMED hard in my locker. My parents are positive that I don't have to go to the doctor. Yesterday, when I slammed it, I went to the Trainer at my school, and he said that if the swelling and sharp pains did not go away, I should go to the emergency room. I have little swelling but I dafinately have a sharp pain in my wrist. What should I do?

Im asking this to see if it could be more than a sprain, like a fracture. If pain does not subside by tomorrow, should I go to a doctor?

If you have a fracture, is it possible that the pain is not like, TERRIBLE? I have bed sharp pains, but its not pain like I am going to die.
Thanks everyone for your help

I agree with your trainer. If it hurts, go to the doctor to get x rays and an exam.

Its a good idea to go to the doctor even if your wrist is not really hurting because depending on your pain tolerance and the type of injury, a bone can be fractured or a bone fragment can be chipped off and wandering about under the skin with few or no symptoms of pain, swelling, or other discomfort.

Also, your trainer is likely considering that if there is something wrong inside your wrist, it may not heal properly without an exam and prescribed therapy/exercises to get your wrist back in shape.

You should see a doctor as soon as possible. It's possible that you may have a hairline fracture. The doctor will X-ray you for a proper diagnosis, give you a wrist brace, and possibly something for the pain.

It's better to know for sure & to treat it properly.

If you're already dressed in a brace, and icing it more often than not. Than you do not must move to a surgeon. All he's going to do, is supply you one more brace. and might be supply you a few ache therapy.

I would get an exray as my daughter had a fracture. they said it would have been better if she broke it because it never healed right and can not be fixed.
