Well there is thing called loyalty, and another thing called being a front-runner.
Now if either you or your girl are alumni of either school, you should be a fan of that school no matter what(unless the school flunked you out or stole money from you).
You will need to convince her in ways other than the fact that in 2006 the Gators were much better than the Canes(that is front-runner syndrome). You will need to show her that it is more honorable to be a Gator fan.
Also if you convince her to switch to being a Gator fan, just beacause they play better, it could be a problem for you later. She could later decide to switch to another who may make more money than you, using the same theory as with the football teams.

Sounds like your relationship has a good, healthy sports rivalry. Why ruin it? Besides, these things tend to be cyclical. There will come a come a time when Miami is once again the "creme" of Florida football.

You don't Florida is not this year was a fluke for Florida so was Ohio State! Miami is a much better team with more talent they'll have a great year while Florida chokes.

You shouldn't want her to be spineless and change her favorite team just because you said so (even if she's wrong in her decision to pull for Miami).
