I have a Dell Lattitude notebook (don't ask what series, all i know is that i bought it last year for about EUR1200). Two days ago my computer had flat batt, but I used it to make a short DVD presentation anyway because I didn't have the charger with me. My client warned me that I shouldn't leave the battery completely empty.

Since yesterday my computer won't turn on. I've plugged it in electricity, but while the cable indicates that there's current running through the cord, but my notebook doesn't flash the light indicating that it's receiving the electricity. Other than that my lappy's simply turned into a vegetable--it just won't do anything, period. How do I breathe life back into lappy without losing all my data? Thanks!

Thanks for the funny answers, but seriously!! what might be wrong with my computer? is there any practical home remedies before taking it to the compie shop? (somebody screwed up my last computer some years ago.. that's why i don't entirely trust them)

Most batteries wont come back to full capasity if you let them drain all the way, however if you just did it once it should at least still work. Also, even if the battery is compleatly ruined, you should still be able to work while plugged in.

I'd suggest trying another cable (borrow one from someone), because it dosent seem like its the battery thats the problem.

Not exactly sure what your problem is but, have you REMOVED the battery to see if it will work with just the adapter?

Only thing I can think of is that perhaps the battery is shorted and stopping power from adapter to get to your laptop.

Hey I had the same computer and let me say they suck. Mine died too. I have had mine for a few yrs now. I went to a computer store like firedog or computer literates and they will fix itr for a really cheap price.
