Well first off the reason I hate the Yankees so much is pretty simply. George Steinbrenner is the one and only reason why I can't stand the Yankees. Don't get me wrong I think what he's done for the Yankees is great, but when you are able to get the best FA's and players before the trade deadline with all your money it makes teams that have less capital no chance of even competing in the American League. For instance when Hideki Matsui went on the DL Steinbrenner went out and got Bobby Abreu just to replace the injured Matsui. Abreu was a former all star and home-run champ if I'm not mistaken. Steinbrenner goes out and get who ever he wants leaving nothing for the rest of the league. As a whole I think the Yankees have a great team, I respect all the Yankees players for what they have brought to the game, but I just can't stand the money Steinbrenner throws around for to get the best players avaliable when they don't really need them.

I would not say I hate them but an extreme dislike of them. Yes I know exactly why. As for the resons you gave.
1 As for Steinbrenner getting the best players available is not a problem. It is the unfair advantage that he has to get the players.
2 Maybe a little Yankees have beaten the Twins their share of times . However they beat us so I can not be to bitter.
3 Sorry I know very well that their payroll and their players. You are not the only fan that can look at stats and figures.
4 No my parents are not huge sports fans. I built my own thoughts on the Yankees.
5 Now here are my reasons
My dislike for Steinbrenner is that as the owner of the richest market in baseball. He has is able to up contracts beyond the point that small to medium market can compete. Under baseballs present rules he can do . The building of the new stadium he is able to skirt the luxury tax is wrong. He can pay whatever he want but he should have to pay the other clubs according to MLB rules.
One part that makes me laugh is his outlandish spending does not buy title for his team. He has yet to learn in about 30 years is championships aren't brought. It is more about chemistry of the team.
The only other thing that gives me dislike of the Yankees is some of their fans. I am unimpressed by fans that have to boo the best players in the game when they slump. It showes that alot of fans are fair weather fans. Also when the Yankees are beaten their are many fans who blame the player rather than think the other team out played them.
So it makes the Yankees an easy team to dislike.

Well, while it's hard to argue against No. 1 on the list, my real reason is the third year the Yankees beat the Royals for the AL Championship back in the 1970s.
When the last game was done, one of my favorite players, Freddie Patek, the shortstop for the Royals, was seen -- on national TV -- crying in the dugout. All I could think was, "Damn them Yankees!!"
Oh, and with regard to No. 1, it's not that he finds the best men, it's that he pays whatever it takes, driving up prices all around and ruining the salary structure so that small-market teams find it hard to compete.
And you forgot the Yankee "entitlement" attitude, that basically says it's a miscarriage of baseball justice if the pinstrippers don't win the World Series every year.
Yeah, there's the reason I hate the Yankees, and a lot of other people do, too.

Well, there are many, many reasons to hate the Yankees, and many great answers have been given so far. Yankee supporters are saying everyone is jealous, while fans of other teams point to there MASSIVE payroll and all-star line-up.
Some things I've picked up from these answers...
1. Someone claimed that every team can afford superstars. Not true. Most teams can afford one or two stars, and rely on gritty hard-nosed players to have solid seasons. The Yankees can afford an all-star at every position.
2. Seeing this all-star team wears thin. Yankee fans brag about how great they are to the point of irritation. It just gets maddening listening to them brag and display nothing but arrogance.
3. It's in everyone's nature to route for the underdog. How many people wanted to see George Mason win the NCAA's last year? People love the underdog...the Yankees, due to their violent spending, are never the underdog, thus everyone hates them.
4. It's not hard to be a Yankee fan. It's too easy. You never have to worry, sweat, or panic in any situation. All fans of other teams sweat out game after game while the Yankees just cruise along.
5. People love to see the Yankees faulter in any way. It's like seeing the big bully get beat up by the small kid. It's just great to see them lose in the playoffs to teams with half their payroll.
6. Yankees are classless. They let older players go with no heart or appreciation. Ask Yogi Berra and Bernie Williams, and Jorge Posada next season...
For me, though, it's the arrogance of the fan, not the team. Constantly bragging about championships from 80 years ago, always referring to the Yankees as "we", like you're on the team, and thinking that you're "all that" because the team is rich and powerful gets on my nerves.
Think of it this way. If you were a fan of any other team, would you like the Yankees?

Its the classic story of David Vs. Goliath. The Yankees, in all honestly, are and have been one of the best teams in all of baseball for such an era it is amazing. That being said, I think the most common reason is that George Steinbrenner uses his inflated payroll to buyout talent. Instead of the fantastic stories of breakout years does not phase the Yankees. They have purchased the proven best players. Another is that they are in the Big Apple. This town is so critical and opinionated that you must either love or hate, and, for me and my fellow Mets fans, its hate. It either end of the spectrum for us.
The Yankees are a great, well-respected team, but everybody just wants to be the one to bring down the Goliath that is the New York Yankees.

I am a traditionalist. I like baseball teams, including the New York Yankees. I have been a big baseball fan for over 30 years.
I like it when teams play well together and get along well; it is entertaining. (my current Detroit Tigers)
I like it when teams play well and hate each other; it is even more entertaining. (old Oakland A's and NY Yankees of 1970's and 1980's.)
I like it when an owner does not take his fans for granted and tries to put a competitive team on the field. (Steinbrenner 1974 to present)
To tell you the truth, I have lived all over the US while in the military and I do not remember anyone HATING the Yankees.
I do think that it is a vision of some Yankee fans that they are hated so they can somehow feel superior to other fans.
You wanted honesty. Hope you can take it, ten points or not.

It's a very easy question to answer really. It's called jealousy. People who claim they hate the Yankees in reality hate the teams that they root for. Why? Because they wish that their teams were as successful as the Yankees. Instead of venting their hatred toward the Yankees they should be questioning their teams commitment to winning. All teams have the money to pay for blue chip players. The problem with other teams is that they are not willing to fork out the money to put a true contender on the field. That's not the Yankees fault that other owners are too cheap to "go for it"!!
Envy and jealousy are what prompts others to point fingers at the Yankees. Instead of making up excuses why don't you other fans write to you various franchise owners and ask them what the hell do they think they're doing with your money?????

I dont have the yankee. They are the best team in Baseball. Everyone says the evil yankee's they buy the best talent. The last time I checked Boston just paid 110 million for a pitcher.... Zito went to SF for 126 m. A rod's contract was with Texas not the yankee's and lastly Soriano is being paid for by the cubs. Even with all these happening we have smart trades (texas is still paying for A rod) and lately we have been getting back to the basics building our farm(which is a top farm club over all)
And usually the people who hate the Yankee's say they are a Oakland/Florida fan or a Atlanta/Reds fan. Last time I checked you can only have one team!
Last but not least Steinbrenner. Yeah the guy is an A$$. But you have to respect the fact that he is going to win. He is willing to back up buy spending whatever to get the team better and doesnt firesale after winning like most teams. He sticks to his guns and expects to WIN! while other teams expect to have a good draft pick next year.
So go ahead hate the Yankee's. But we are every year The Team To Beat!. Doesnt matter who won the world series. Doesnt matter if we lost 3 guys in the post season. Doesnt matter how much you just got your new ace for. You need to beat the Yankee's to win the world series.
(ps we also help out other clubs to) Have you ever gone to a yankee game and saw the stadium not sold out? We sell out other peoples ball clubs!. And Revenue Sharing. We give away money to other hack clubs (like KC and Marlins) who try to lose every year to get better.

I hate the Yankees cuz I just don't think they are as good as everyone thinks/says. The sheer size of the city and number of investors when the club was began has allowed them to pour more amounts of money into hiring good talent for about 100 yrs, forcing other teams to do the same and it's harder in alot of areas such as Minnesota to come near a similar payroll to nab, say, Clemens or A-Rod. You think the Yankees will ever either move from New York or fold? Don't think so. Oh, and don't forget, us Redbird fans got to see the Tigers get beat after THEY beat the Yankees. :D

5. other,
I hate the Yankees because they use their money to get the best players ever and the ball club are super strict with their players. Some players i respect like Matsui and Cano, but A-rod who is the highest payed player in baseball complains way to much for being the highest payed player in the league. All I hear from A-rod since he moved to the Yankees is Jeters hates me and we use to be good friends. you know what buy some new friends because you freakin make $27,000,000 a season, i do respect that he gives to charities and foundations, but please stop being a baby. So i dislike the Yankees because certain players attitude that make more money then 100 avg. working males in the USA complain and if you want to go back in history, the Babe Ruth scandal in the way the Yankees got him from the Red Sox Just so Henry Frazee ( Red Sox New Owner) would get his little Broadway Production and could care less about his team make history possibly is the most outrages deal in baseball and putting a curse on the Red Sox that was finally broken in 2004, why did they give up Ruth one of the greatest if not the best players in the Major leagues? FOR MONEY!!!
