Ronald Reagan was a Democrat before he was a Republican...registered Democrat until 1962.

Other notable politicians who were once registered Democrats but later Republicans include Trent Lott, Rudoph Giuliani, Condoleeza Rice, Elizabeth Dole and Norm Coleman. Hillary Clinton was formerly a registered Republican and campaigned for Barry Goldwater.
