Yes.
A Matiz 0.8 will do 80mph all day if you let it.
A 1.0 will do more, and do it more quietly, but doesn't have the same enthusiasm or character.
The 1.2-litre prototype was just too noisy, and not really necessary, so never made production.

it may go over 50mph but the average Daewoo driver is far to sensible and boring to do so!!!!

Yes. I have owned one for eight years (well, two different ones actually) and you obviously haven't met me on the road...but maybe I wouldn't want to embarrass you by overtaking you... :)

Yeah, it does, but they shudder like there's no tomorrow. It's a smoother ride to go slower.
