Okay for english, I have a write a Twelve angry men essay. here are the topics that I can choose from:

1. Choose one character (other than juror eight) and prove that he was pivotal to a just outcome.

2. Choose a lesson to be learned from the play and prove its importance.

3. Using the play, prove the importance of jurors getting beyond the ideas, experiences, and preconceptions they bring to their task.

I was asking if someone could explain option #3 for me becuase I just don't get it. It's really confusing to me.

Also, I probably choose number 1 for my essay but I just don't get the "pivotal to a just outcome" part. Can someone explain that to me too?

Thanks in advance!

okay i think im going to choose option #2. I'm been brainstorming about some ideas about a lesson which is decision making and how it is important in the story but I need help on the details about it like for example: juror 8 stands out because blah blah blah. I need something else that will support my topic.

first of all.. if you havnet read it yet.. i would suggest it because it helps understand the characters a lot... i am an extremely slow reader and it only took me about half an hour.. but heres some starters for topic 2 though.. i think it is the easiest to write a lot about and you cant really be wrong...

2. one lesson is to keep an open mind. Although most of the jury didnt start out this way, in the end an open mind was what kept a teenagers life from being destroyed. Also not giving in to peer pressure was another lesson taught. If Juror number 8 was too afraid to stand up for what he thought was right, the story would be a lot shorter... ((there are many more.. thats just two though))

3. this is just asking you to explain how the jurors minds were eventually changed. How and when they decided that they too would go against their original judgement. Also, what would have happened if all of them kept the closed and judgemental minds they started with..

hope this helps
