Romeo was very fickle and superficial in the play, shown by his suddenly forgetting about Rosaline, his first love, when he sees Juliet. He is also very intense, shown by his deep sadness at his rejection in the beginning of Act One, and in the way he loves Juliet very passionately and wholeheartedly.
