I lost my baby at 22 weeks and I need some help stopping the breast milk. I don't want any feedback saying I should donate or anything like that. I have tried cabbage, but it seems to make thinks worse. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

I am very sorry for your loss, I can only imagine how hard it would be. My advice is to make sure you don't stimulate your breasts in any way, no warm water on them either {bath/shower}. The heat with stimulate milk flow and not help the issue. Try wearing a snug fitting sports bra, the pressure will help you not produce. What ever you do, do not try and pump to relieve the pain, that will just make more. I've heard that sage helps dry up milk. I'm sure there is more than that though. You might want to try a local health food store. They always have books that they can look in to see what might work. You may also want to try an antihistamine. They dry up almost anything. I hope this help some.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Tight fitting bras do help...and then just express the smallest amount possible just to relieve the pain.

The cabbage doesn't stop the milk...it just soothes soreness..so no those wouldn't help.

Your doctor also should have given you advice regarding treatment immediatly after it happened (so that it wouldn't have come in in the first place) and since apparently they didn't...they should be able to advise you now as to the best course of action and they also may be able to prescribe something to dry you up.

I used the cabbage leaves and they never worked for me. All I can tell you is to wear a tight sports bra and breast pad..You could put a warm compress on your chest to help some..But other then that you just have to endure the pain..ugh I hate engorgment..It will get better by the 3rd day..good luck.

I am SO SO sorry for your loss.

I'm very sorry for your loss.

While your milk is drying up you need to be careful that you don't get an infection from not draining the milk, also caused by clogged ducts. If you have pain, redness, or an inflamed area on your breast make sure you go to your doctor, you'll need a prescription to clear it up.

I think that you should ask your doctor to see if there is anything that can be prescribed.

Don't try to express it out, because that makes your body think you still need it, so will not stop producing it. Take ibuprofen/paracetamol for your pain of engorgement, and wear a good supportive bra.

Oh, I'm so sorry you have to go through this.

I'm sorry for your loss. I don't know any ways, I'm sorry, but if you goodsearch it, I am sure you will find the answer. And donating it is towards a good cause.

To goodsearch something, go to www.goodsearch.com. Goodsearch is like google, but every time you search for something money gets donated to the charity of your choice. I personally switch between Young Judaea and Save Darfur.

I am so sorry for your loss.

Cabbage wont help because its almost 70% water which helps produce breastmilk. It will go away on its own, takes a little over a month to completly dry out, but just be patient.

Try wearing tight bras, and using ice packs or cold showers if they feel painful. You can also talk to your doctor for treatment for this.

It can take a bit of time, I stopped breastfeeding over a month ago and still lactate a small amount.

You just have to wait. It will go away. I thought the cabbage thing was supposed to work though...

I know they used to give shots to "dry" you up. You may ask your Dr. if this could be available to you.

Do not try and squeeze it out. Just put ice on your breast and try avoid HOT showers. Only take warm showers.
