I know this is awful, but I'm 22 and have never been to a gynecologist (I had sex for the first time when I was 17 and have been sexually active on a regular basis since I was 19). I have had tests for UTI's/yeast infections done at Planned Parenthood, but never anything else. When I go for the first time, are they going to give me a hard time about waiting so long for my first visit? What should I use for my reasoning?

As a healthcare provider I say this: If they would give you a hard time then you need to switch providers. I've seen plenty of women...some who have never had a pap in thier life...some who have not had one for over 20 years. The point is NOT that you haven't had one. The point is that you 're having one now....and that's the only important thing. Good for you.

no they shouldnt give you a hard time. and no you dont have to give them any kind of an excuse. thats your business on why you didnt want to go. But you really should go sometime soon. I lost my virginity when I was 16 and I didnt go until I was 18. I was freaking out on getting pregant so I had to do something. Good luck

they won't give you a hard time they will probly just stress the importance of going ecspecially if your sexually active on a regular basis. They ussually try to make you feel pretty comfortable. It's okay but you should go.

They won't give you a hard time....they will say that it should be a yearly thing and just tell them the truth....no inssurance, scared whatever they are there to provide for you not lecture you.

Probably but it is what it is. Their job is to give you a hard time. Just shrug it off and you'll be fine. At least your going now.

You don't owe them any explanation. Just go and if you get asked, just say you have not kept up and want to get started. Don't wait. You need to go.
