should i call the police?

i don't know if i should call someone about my friend whose mother may be mentally ill, and the daughter denies it, but i know shes just lying, who do i call

Unless a crime's been committed, don't call the police. Talk to a social worker, a school counselor (if you're in school), or someone you can trust.

Well you didnt say exactly what this women is doing-so its hard to know, but if she is not hurting anyone i would mind my own business-you say she may be mentally ill--you cant call the police on some one for that.

first of all it really depends on how old your friend is. If your friend is under 18 and is still living at home and you dont feel like your friend is being taken care of by her mother than yes it is the right thing to call child protective services (cps) or your local police department. Now if your friend is over the age of 18 and is more than capable of taking care of herself theres really nothing you can do unless your friend is willing to have her mother commited. talk to your parents about this and see what they say. This girl needs a really good friend and it sounds to me that you are one.
