When I grew up, gay people were stll in the closet, but when I got older, it was a horrible thing to even think gay, and yes I did not like the fact people were gay, but over time, I had learned, to break the conditioning I was taught about gay people being bad, and learned to accept it. Gay transgendered, Bi, it does not matter, as they are human beings just like any straight people. I hate gay bashing, or anybody that judges another ones lifestyle. We are all human beings, and what really matters is that we all came from the same place, and when we die, we will go back to that place as long as we are good people, and that means all of us. To all of the Gay, transgendered, bi people, my hat off to you for not conforming to the ideals set before us, and live your life the way it will make you happy. I had a friend who was gay, and after a long battle with aids, he passed on. He was a vietnam vet, and when I first met him , oh he is gay yuk, then I learned what a kind warm person he really was, and so what if he was gay. He taught me respect, for gay people, and that is that.

I have never personally met a homosexual person. When I heard of them at first I was afraid of them and thought they were total freaks. Then I spent time in a city up north and found out we had lesbians living across the street. Even though I never met them, I would watch them sometimes. These ladies owned dogs. In the winter, they put sweaters on their Greyhound and he would wait patiently for the other dog to be ready and the woman would come outside and tell the dogs to get in the car. I just saw that these two women lived like anyone else. Today, I figure their sexual preference is their business and no one else's. They are wonderful people just like anyone else.

The first person I knew that was gay was actually my high school boyfriend, and best friend. It broke my heart when I found out he was gay, but I put that away, and tried my best to be there for him during an extremely difficult period of his life. We're still friends today.
